I recently did a talk for a Master Gardener’s group in Georgia.  They were a really great group of people and I enjoyed it very much.

One of the things that I found really interesting, and yet not totally surprising, was their hunger to learn how to keep their orchids alive. A number of them came armed with questions, leaves cut off of their plants, and stories of how quickly they tend to kill them.

While I was waiting for the last few to join us, there were questions flying around about everything you can imagine.  I finally told them that there would be some time for questions at the end if I didn’t answer them during the talk.

The talk was only 30 minutes, but by the time it was done there were a lot of comments that went something like this… “Ok… now I know 5 things that I did wrong.  I’m going to go home and tell my orchids that it will be ok and we will get through this together.”  And off they went.

So why do I tell you all of this?

I’m telling you because the class was such a hit that a number of people contacted me and told me they wished they had taken my class instead of the one they had taken.

Those of you who follow me know that one of my passions with orchids is the idea that anybody CAN care for and bloom basic orchids in their home.  So of course after the success of my class, I HAD to find a solution for those who were not able to attend the class.

So I decided to go ahead and do a class ONLINE for anyone who would like to learn.

That is how Orchids 101 was born and I am offering it to anyone who wants to learn the basics or orchid care.
